Sustainable Education is a lifelong commitment to children

It's rooted in science and designed to build knowledge, essential skills, and a deep love for learning. We recognize that education begins at birth and early childhood is an essential time to build foundational social-emotional skills needed for self-confidence, which is key to lifelong learning.

Grounded in international standards yet respectful of local implementation, this approach offers a flexible framework and a steadfast commitment to providing the very best for every child, educator, and family. It is a vision of education that nurtures the whole child, supports the whole educator, and engages the whole community—ensuring that learning is not only effective, but also meaningful and has long-term impact.

6 Pillars of Sustainable Education

At the heart of our approach are six foundational pillars, each grounded in research and designed to support every child’s individual journey and well-being.

  1. Ensuring Physical & Emotional security

Above all, safety is most important—but to us, that means a lot more than supervision.

Our schools are carefully created spaces that make children feel safe, seen, and supported. Big emotions are hard and can be scary. Our educators are here to help little ones – and you! – navigate them.

Social-emotional regulation builds kids to be resilient. When they’re in control of their emotions, they’re in the right mental space to learn. That’s why ensuring physical and emotional safety is at the core of what we do. Learn more about social-emotional learning.

  1. Developing Natural Curiosity

Children are born curious—education begins with engaging a child’s curious mind.

We support children’s natural curiosity and develop their independence by expanding their creativity and giving them the space and freedom to safely explore. Through play and imagination, Sustainable Education develops creativity, self-expression, respect, and character development.

Lessons and activities are presented in a fun, hands-on approach, encouraging a love for lifelong learning and discovery. Learn more about how we learn and play.

  1. Nature-Based Learning

The importance of being in—and learning from—the outdoors

Spending time outdoors is vital to children’s development, which is why we spend ample time outside and on our playgrounds. Our outdoor spaces invite children to explore, observe, and connect with the natural world—enhancing memory, attention, and scientific thinking. We also bring the outdoors in with natural materials and sensory-rich environments. Learn more about how we connect with nature.

  1. Respecting Each Child’s Rhythm

Our approach is not the same for every child, but what’s best for every child.

Our educators create a unique approach for your child. All children are different, and we meet them where they are.

Every child develops at their own pace. We honor individual timelines by slowing down routines, observing closely, and allowing milestones to unfold naturally. This respectful approach builds confidence, trust, and a strong sense of self. Learn more about our approach.

  1. Fostering Inclusion & Multiculturalism

We believe every child deserves to feel confident in who they are, proud of their family, and feel a sense of belonging outside of their home.

Our approach nurtures empathy, celebrates human differences, and equips children with the language and courage to recognize and respond to unfairness. By building a caring community with intentional teaching, we’re empowering children to grow into compassionate, socially aware individuals, who are open-minded citizens, respectful of differences.

Our schools are dedicated to multiculturalism, multilingualism, and exposure to diversity. We proudly choose books, celebrate events, and honor cultural values that represent all families.

  1. Collaborating with Families

We're part of your village.

Parents and educators work together and share observations from home and school to connect the dots and support your child’s growth and development. We work hard to build strong partnerships with parents and caregivers, share insights and observations, and work together to support each child’s growth and development.

We help improve parental skills at home and parents help us navigate at school, and we all learn from the children.

Our educators are your partners in your child’s safety and education, not just their supervision.

At Heartworks, every child is unique.

At Little Sprouts, we believe every child is unique, and our approach reflects that—tailoring activities to their interests and developmental stage.
