Inside Our Heartworks Classrooms
Thoughtfully designed spaces that inspire movement, curiosity, creativity, and connection—every single day.
Discovery Spaces
Where movement, curiosity, and hands‑on exploration come together.
Movement and active play are essential to children’s growth. At Heartworks, children have daily opportunities to move, explore, and build physical confidence both indoors and outdoors. Our dedicated Discovery Spaces and age‑appropriate playgrounds are thoughtfully designed to support exploration, coordination, and whole‑body development.
Outdoor Playgrounds & Nature Walks
Learning beyond the classroom—powered by fresh air and discovery.
We prioritize outdoor time every day, recognizing the powerful benefits of fresh air, nature, and open‑ended play in supporting children’s physical health, focus, and well‑being.
Whenever possible, we extend learning beyond the classroom walls and into the natural world. Whether children are playing on our outdoor playgrounds or heading out on nature walks, these experiences invite curiosity, observation, and connection to the environment. Being outdoors allows children to learn through movement, discovery, and real‑world experiences that deepen their understanding of the world around them.
Nature Stations
Bringing outdoor discoveries indoors through sensory exploration
Each classroom includes age‑appropriate Nature Stations filled with materials inspired by the treasures children discover during outdoor exploration. These stations evolve throughout the year, reflecting children’s interests and seasonal changes.
Children are free to explore, touch, sort, and investigate materials at their own pace—strengthening sensory awareness, fine‑motor skills, and a sense of wonder through hands‑on discovery.
Dramatic Play
Imagination in action as children build stories, relationships, and skills
Dramatic Play areas are ever‑changing and fueled by children’s imaginations. One week, the space might transform into a farm; the next, a cozy cave where children pretend to be hibernating bears.
As children play together, they practice essential social skills—building empathy, collaboration, and problem‑solving strategies. Dramatic play also supports narrative thinking, helping children strengthen memory, emotional connections, and decision‑making through storytelling and shared experiences.
Cozy Corners
A calm place to pause, reset, and feel supported
Filled with pillows, comfy chairs, and soothing stuffies, our Cozy Corners offer children a calm, inviting place to pause and reset. Big feelings can feel overwhelming, and sometimes children need quiet time to be alone, reflect, or simply take a break.
These spaces are intentionally designed to support emotional regulation and self‑awareness. Our educators are always nearby—ready to offer comfort, guidance, and reassurance—helping children navigate their emotions in safe, healthy ways.
Book Displays
Stories that reflect our families, cultures, and communities
Books are thoughtfully displayed throughout our schools—from the entryway to each classroom—inviting children to explore stories every day. We all know how important reading is for literacy development and communication skills, but we also prioritize books to connect to and explore cultures and communities, which is why we carefully curate our book selections to represent all types of family structures and cultures.
We value strong home‑school connections and warmly encourage families to contribute by sharing their heritage, home language, and favorite stories—bringing meaningful pieces of home into our school community.
